‘Hiking the Grand’ with Imam Zaid Shakir

The North American Spiritual Revival and Islamic Relief Canada are excited to bring yet another amazing program to Southern Ontario. Insha’Allah, as die-hard Ontarians, we all love and cherish the great outdoors, and there is no better weekend to kick off the warm weather and hopefully pack away those winter boots and parkas than Victoria Day Long Weekend. You and your family are invited to a spiritual and athletic packed event as we are pleased to host IMAM ZAID SHAKIR from the Zaytuna Institute on ‘Hiking the Grand’.

The details are as follows:
Date: Monday May 18th 2009 at 10:30am.
Place: We will meet at the Islamic Centre of Cambridge (map) and car-pool to the Hike site. Please aim to meet at the Masjid before 10.30am as we will all leave for the site at 10.30 sharp. The Hike will last approximately 3 hours.
Cost: closed

We will hike with Imam Zaid for approx 4 KMs along the Grand River. More information on the trail is available here and a detailed map available here. Once we are done, we will return back to the Masjid for a BBQ Lunch. During the hike, people will have an opportunity to walk and talk with Imam Zaid.

What to bring:
Please dress according to the weather conditions. If its sunny, bring lots of water and sun screen. If it looks like its going to rain, bring appropriate rain gear just in case it rains on us during the hike. If its going to be cold in the morning and then warm up, dress in layers. Most importantly, DRESS FOR A HIKE NOT A DINNER PARTY!! Please bring water and healthy snacks for your enjoyment during the hike.

Raincheck Contingency Plan
If it rains prior to the beginning of the hike, we will have an indoors event at the Islamic Centre of Cambridge. Either way, you will not be disappointed.
